Frequently asked questions

Is the JRE essay marking free?

Yes. Each visitor can have up to 8 essays marked a day, at most 2 a minute, and there is also a site-wide daily limit. Marking in the app runs on its own allowance and keeps your full marking history.

What standard is my essay marked against?

A training scale built for practice: ten dimensions out of 10 each, two 0–5 meters per paragraph (argument quality and angle of approach), and five checkable features of a LegCo Panel discussion paper. It is not the Civil Service Bureau marking scheme and does not predict a pass mark.

Can it mark the English paper?

Yes. Choose the English paper, paste the question and, if you were given one, the data file.

Is my essay stored?

The full text is not kept. The server records only the length, the score and usage counts for statistics. To produce the marking, the essay is processed by a third-party AI model service.

How is this different from reading a model answer?

A model answer shows how someone else wrote; marking shows where your own paragraphs lose marks. Read a model answer to calibrate, then mark your own draft.

Want to see how a strong script is built first? Read our JRE model answer guide.

This is a training scale built for practice. It is not the Civil Service Bureau’s marking scheme, and it does not predict a pass mark or a recruitment outcome. Free daily use is capped; the app carries the full question bank and keeps your marking history.

Practise your JRE writing with the app
