Transport Officer II 2026: Duties, JRE Requirements and Competition Data

Published: 2026-08-14Updated: 2026-08-14~7 min read

Transport Officer II is one of the six JRE grades confirmed for recruitment beginning in September 2026. The work connects policy, public-transport operations, facilities and incident coordination into a service that works on the ground.

Core duties

  • Manage and review public-transport services.
  • Handle operational matters involving bridges, tunnels and parking facilities.
  • Contribute to transport studies, traffic schemes and analysis.
  • Coordinate emergency traffic arrangements.
  • Support contracts, tenders and industry liaison.

What is stable and what must wait

The shared JRE gates include the specified CRE language results, Aptitude Test and BLNST. Older advertisements listed accepted degree disciplines, but these must not be presented as the 2026 requirements. The September advertisement will control disciplines, pay and experience.

Preparation framework

  1. Evaluate transport policy across safety, efficiency, accessibility, cost and environment.
  2. For incidents: stabilise, communicate, provide alternatives and review.
  3. Make trade-offs between passengers, operators, districts, frontline staff and government explicit.
  4. Attach an owner, timeline and metric to every recommendation.

Accuracy boundary: Earlier advertisements explain stable duties but do not define 2026 entry requirements. Follow the September advertisement.

Now put it into practice

The JREHK app carries writing drills for both the Chinese and English papers, worked model answers, and a policy-issue library with the analytical frameworks to go with it — so the method you just read becomes something you actually use.
