Writing covers structure, coherence, language and persuasiveness. Even correct views score poorly if the organisation is chaotic or the wording is inappropriate.
Four Standards of Good Writing
- Clear structure: introduction, argument, judgement and conclusion each play their role with logical links.Exam

- Accurate language: appropriate diction and smooth syntax; formal written Chinese in the Chinese paper, formal precise English in the English paper.Compare

Spend two or three minutes outlining first: a clear skeleton scores better than ornate wording and prevents drifting or running out of time.
3How the Two Abilities Work Together
Analysis and writing are two sides of one essay, not separate things. Deep analysis needs clear expression to be seen, while polished prose without analysis is hollow.

- Settle your points and judgement first, then organise and phrase them, to avoid loose structure from thinking while writing.Exam
